Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 200 g canned chili (with beans)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices (as needed)
  • Pickles (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, pepper, chili powder, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
  3. Heat a grill or frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness.
  4. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to allow the cheese to melt.
  5. While the burgers are cooking, in a small saucepan, heat the canned chili until warm.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster.
  7. Assemble the burgers: place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, add the cheeseburger patty, top with a generous spoonful of chili, and add tomato slices and pickles if desired. Cover with the top half of the bun.
  8. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
